Sophomore Lea Kosinski, a player with the Finch’s Aces 18U Premier team, was named the Softball Player of the Week by the Courier News.
Kosinski has been on a tear of late for Hunterdon Central (18-1), which recently won the Hunterdon-Warren-Sussex Tournament championship and begins its quest today for more hardware in the NJSIAA Central Jersey, Group 4 tournament.
Kosinski went 5-for-9 (.555) with a double, two home runs and drove in five runs. She also scored four runs. The 5-7 first baseman is hitting .259 but has delivered repeatedly in the clutch. She has two doubles, two home runs, 17 RBI and has scored 14 runs on the season for the No. 1 team in the Courier News Top 10.
“Lea had been on varsity as freshman and has already shown much improvement in just one year,” Hunterdon Central coach Kelly Rieder told the Courier News. “She is a confident player, who has developed into one of our leaders. I am really looking forward to having her for two more years.”
