Milestone mania on Coaches All-Time Victories List

Sam Tropiano of Bishop Eustace now has 707 career victories, sixth all-time in New Jersey.

It was quite the season in high school baseball in New Jersey as we celebrated one coaching victory milestone after another.

Toms River South coach Ken Frank, New Jersey’s all-time victories leader, became the first coach to surpass the 900 wins plateau and he had plenty of company in celebrating milestones in 2021.

Seton Hall Prep’s Mike Sheppard, Jr. picked up career victory No. 800 and finished the season at 810 for his 36 seasons. Sam Tropiano of Bishop Eustace (700), Dennis Barth (500) of Gloucester Catholic, Chris Roof (400) of Gov. Livingston and Bill Alvaro, Jr. (400) of Kingsway all joined elite company by reaching and then passing a significant milestone.

Diamond Nation.com provided an updated career victories list back in February, listing the top 100 or so career baseball victories leaders in New Jersey. As a service to the baseball community, we return to the scene to update the numbers through the 2021 season.

Equally important, it is worth the time to peruse the list below of NJ coaches with a .700 or better career winning percentage. This is truly an elite group of men.

So, before you settle into the fall season that is part of the preparation for the coming 2022 baseball season, take a slow walk through this deep list of New Jersey coaching legends.
